Head Brewer (Mead-Maker, Wine-Maker)

Do you have experience in producing craft mead, wine and/or beer? If so, we want to meet you! As we continue to expand our mead production across the Hawaiian Islands, we are in search of an experienced brewer to help discover, refine and continue mead production for MĀNOA HONEY & MEAD. 

Position Title: Head Brewer (Mead-Maker)

Position Type: Full-time | 40-hours a week

Compensation: Determined by experience and skill set

Role* & Responsibilities (all but not limited to):

*This is a hands-on brewer position including brewery, cellar work, packaging, maintenance and product deliveries. 


  • Production planning, forecasting and scheduling to meet demand trends.

  • Brewing – bulk honey handling, must production, yeast handling , etc.

  • Monitor fermentations – check gravities, pH, cell counts/viability, temperature.

  • Ingredients - fruits, juice, puree prepping and management.  

  • CIP – cleaning/sanitizing tanks and other equipment.

  • Kegging production – keg cleaning, sanitizing, filling & keg machine maintenance (Premier 2-head semi-automatic) 

  • Bottling and Canning (to-be-purchased) – lead bottling and canning operations 

  • Maintenance –plan & lead cleaning/maintenance projects all around the production area including machineries and equipment, coordinate w/ trades as necessary.

  • Manage supply chain needs, coordinate with vendors and schedule deliveries to meet production schedule.

  • Manage inventories, order honey, ingredients, packaging supplies, CIP chems, and other meadery supplies as necessary.

  • Work with brewmaster/owners refine existing recipes and create new recipes such as barrel aged and/or other specialty projects.

  • Assist with events and promotions as necessary (occasionally).

  • Keg/can/bottle deliveries

  • Occasional assist in honey production.


Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ consecutive years of commercial meadery, brewery or winery leadership experience preferred.

  • Formal brewing/oenology education & experience preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills - must be a team player.

  • Self-starter, ability to take initiative, lead projects, manage time efficiently and work independently.

  • Exceptional focus, organizational skills, attention to details with beer quality, sanitation and safety.

  • Must be able to lift 55 lbs bulk honey and regularly bend, twist, reach, stoop and climb ladders periodically.

  • Must be able to work early mornings and long hours if necessary  

  • Must have a passion for crafting art in beverages.

  • Must be 21+ years old.

Production Lead (Honey)

Do you have experience in consumer goods production and/or production management?  If so, we want to meet you! As we continue to develop and wholesale our Honey Products across the Hawaiian Islands and the U.S. Mainland,  we are looking for an experienced production lead to streamline processes, manage staff and lead our end-to-end honey production at MĀNOA Honey and Mead.

Position Title: Production Lead (Honey, In-House)

Position Type: Full-time | 40-hours a week

Compensation: $15.00 - $23.00 per hour (DOE)

Role* & Responsibilities (all but not limited to):

*This is a hands-on position including which could include heavy lifting, packaging, maintenance. 


You will be responsible for tasks including but not limited to, production scheduling, production of the honey products, bulk inventory and supply management, warehouse management, office and supply logs, representation at farmers market, and occasional errands of pick ups and deliveries.

Positive attitude and great communication skills are essential. Individual who can self-start, multi-task, solve problems and do things proactively, you’ll quickly become invaluable. The goal is to streamline production schedule as well as managing warehouse/office inventory and supplies.


  • Complete 40-hour shift, Monday - Friday.

  • Ordering / receiving of bulk supplies.

  • Production Scheduling

  • Honey Supply Management: labels, bulk honey, containers, bottles, ordering of these materials.

  • Office Supply Management: shipment materials, packaging materials Honey product management (oversees products, production schedule)

  • Ordering Management + resolution -- will be trained to be head of production

  • Honey Production support, as needed.

  • Lead twice a month Farmers Markets on Saturdays. 

  • Additional:

    • Oversee organization / maintenance of office/warehouse. 

    • Assist in all-round production activities (include beekeeping field work if desired).

Required Qualifications

  • Great communication skills

  • Standard (basic) computer skills, including but not limited to, organizing, receiving, and replying to product orders, management of incoming and outgoing product inventories, developing excel spreadsheets, and other product reporting tools.

  • A valid driver’s license.

  • Keen attention to detail, proactive and curious nature. 

  • Experience in food manufacturing is a plus!

  • Light skills in carpentry, and hardware tools.

  • Able to problem solve, with DIY to former experience processes.

  • Ability to operate Forklift is a plus, as well.
